Within Chows we have a few things regarding colours
DD= Not carrying dilute (Red, Cream or Black)
Dd= A solid colour carry dilute (Black, Cream, or Red)
dd= A dilute (Blue, Cream or Fawn)
KK= not carrying red (Black, Blue or Cream)
Kky= carrying red (Black, Blue or Cream)
kyky= Red (Cream, Fawn or Red)
EE= No cream present (Black, Blue, Fawn or Red)
Ee= Carrying Cream (Black, Blue, Fawn or Red)
ee= Cream
Every Chow will have these three things present, for instance-
A Black can be DD, KK, EE or Dd, Kky, Ee or any combination of those. I have found that a black carrying blue and not red tends to be a better colour of black for instance Dd, KK, Ee.
A Cream will any combination of the first two but always ee, this could be a reason for yellow vs white creams as an example.
A Fawn will be dd, kyky, EE or dd, kyky, Ee.
With this knowledge you can make a colour based pedigree.
